I am the absolute dumbest person ever. That’s exactly how I feel.

I and my husband have two children. Our youngest is only three months old. We work the regular 9–5 job; however, we found that if our boys want to have $100k in the bank by 18 years old for college, we need to save $1,000 each month. This is very hard for us.

What we’ve decided to do is start our own businesses. My husband has a doctorate in physical therapy. He is launching his own virtual-visit website for p.t. sessions. I don’t have any skills, and I wish I’d learned sewing in school, but I have launched an e-commerce fashion business. I design templates and send them to a manufacturer. This middleman will print my designs on skirts, shirts, dresses, etc. My startup costs have been $300 so far, and I haven’t profited a single cent. Now I need a printer. With the costs stacking up, I feel so dumb to start a business head-first. Will I even be able to make a profit and grant my boys the education they need?

I feel these are the questions and struggles a parent goes through. They are also the struggles a business owner suffers. If I cannot make this work, then I will have lost money and I’m nowhere at saving for my boys. This is also the risk we take.

Today, I’m ranting. I do not have a post that will help someone. Today, I have a heavy feeling that I need to throw off my chest, so I’m sorry if you were expecting a great article with professional insights or technical writing advice.

If you’re a parent and know the struggle, then give this a clap! If you’re a business owner and know the struggle, also give this a clap! If you’re a person that just needs money, then clap away! Thank you for reading if you’ve made it to this sentence. I really appreciate this community and how Medium allows us to write. On other platforms like Instagram or Facebook, it is somewhat taboo to tell the world everything. I often hear friends and family say, “You shouldn’t post everything to your social media”. Medium provides me the outlet to express and say what I can’t on other platforms. Over here, it’s art. It’s a human living a human life and writing about it.

I appreciate all of you, thank you. If you want to comment on how you feel today below, do not hesitate!
